The Pitt chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers supports Black engineering students at the University of Pittsburgh through community, mentorship, professional development, and academic excellence.
The objective of the University of Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers shall be to stimulate and develop student interest in engineering; to strive to increase the number of students studying engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; and to endeavor in the advancement of the Black engineer in professional industry. Additionally, this organization shall provide service opportunities for its members and engage in providing STEM opportunities for youth and adults in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

Our first Member of the Month for the 2026 - 2027 academic year is Sira Frost, Public Relations Chair, from the Communications Zone of Pitt NSBE! Sira is a Senior Computer Engineering major concentrating in Software Engineering, pursuing an Engineering Data Science Certificate. Sira has done great work in revitalizing our chapter’s website, creating exciting new Instagram posts and TikToks, and coming up with innovative ideas for our events and more!

Running from 5-9 PM, the NSBE x SHPE Homecoming Mixer will be held on the 6th floor of the William Pitt Union! Come to rest and relax from your busy classes, talk with other members, and connect with Pitt alumni! See you there!
